The spectacles you buy from us are our best advertisement. We take great thought and pride in collecting what many patients have told us, is the best range they have seen. Many patients report that they are often complimented on their choice of our frames.
We stock a wide range of frames catering from inexpensive to WOW!
Most frames are manufactured in Europe. We tend not to supply frames from China, often preferring to use discontinued fashion frames for our more budget prices.
Anthony regularly attends the main European Trade Fairs in Paris and Milan, and personally imports several ranges of frames that are exclusive to us. Anthony has also designed many spectacle and sunglass models for our personal range.

Frame Materials
Full metal or half rim, hand made wooden frames, acetate in black or colours and lightweight titanium frames are available.
For those wanting the absolute minimal look there are rimless frames. If you need a resilient frame there are flexible titanium frames, many with spring hinges. (ideal for children)
Spectacle Lenses
There are many different types of lenses, including:
- Single Vision which are prescribed for reading, distance or computer correction. Most people under 40 years of age require single vision lenses only.
- Progressive Lenses or multi-focal Lenses provide correction which allows you to see clearly at a range of distances thus eliminating the need to constantly change your spectacles for different tasks. Progressive lens technology has advanced significantly in the past few years, making adaptation easier. There are many different designs available to suit individual needs. Progressive lenses often require some adaptation on the part of the user but for many people it is the best solution for effective vision. The three zones covered are distance, intermediate (computer distance) and reading.
- Bi-Focal Lenses are a single lens with two different powers, normally one for reading and one for distance. The two lenses are always separated by a line.
- Extended Focus Lenses are best thought of as a two zone multi focal. There is no line in an extended focal lens and they are often used for people with good distance vision who need help for reading and computer work only.
- Photochromatic Lenses – sometimes known as Transition Lenses (however Transition is a brand name and sometimes confused with the term Multi Focal), are lenses that change colour in the sun. What activates this process is ultra violet light and consequently these lenses are not affected by artificial lighting. However, they never really retain complete transparency and don’t go very dark when driving a car as the UV light is absorbed by the windscreen.
- High Index lenses – ideal for those people requiring glasses with higher prescriptions because the high refractive index lenses are thinner and lighter to wear. Hi-index Lens Materials are more effective at focusing light for a given thickness. This means that people requiring higher corrections can have thinner and lighter lenses, improving their appearance and comfort. Hi-Index is available in all types of lenses.
Coatings
All spectacle lenses in Australia have a hard scratch resistant coating as standard.
- Anti-Reflective Coating is an optional treatment to lenses. It effectively eliminates white reflection on the surface of a lens allowing better, more relaxed vision. The wearer also looks better as other people can see their eyes more naturally. Anti-Reflective Coatings incorporate the scratch resistant coating as well.
- UV Coating is a transparent UV coating and like a sunscreen on your skin protects your eyes from any ultra violet damage. It is always used in Australian Standard sunglasses. It is this coating and not the tint that protects you from the sun damage. So consequently you can have protection from sun damage without the tint.
- Multi Coating is a combination of Anti-Reflective and UV Coating. Thus offering protection from the sun, scratching and reflections. Great for indoor and computer use as well as outside, however, they are more difficult to keep clean and require a special cloth to do so.
- Polarised Coating – provides a level of light management that ordinary sunglasses do not have by limiting the kind of light that enters your eyes. This polarised film acts as a filter, blocking out light that bounces off reflective surfaces.
- Strong and Tough Lens materials are necessary with rimless or half rimless frames. These materials are available in all types of lenses from single vision to progressive and can be given multi-coating. They resist cracking and chipping and are particularly useful for children.
